This Privacy Policy explains how Otter Watt (“we,” “our,” or “us”) collects, uses, and protects information when you visit otterwatt.com or engage us for a consultation or installation.
1. Information we collect
Information you provide to us: when you submit our consultation form or contact us by email or phone, you give us details such as your name, email, phone number, city or ZIP code, home type and size, current smart-home platforms, automation interests, timeline, budget range, and any notes you choose to share.
Information collected automatically: our hosting provider (Vercel) records standard server logs (IP address, browser type, page visited, timestamp) for security and reliability. We do not currently use third-party analytics or advertising trackers. If that changes, this policy will be updated.
2. How we use your information
- To respond to your consultation request and schedule a call
- To prepare a project proposal and quote
- To communicate with you about scheduled work, follow-ups, and warranty matters
- To keep records of work performed for warranty, tax, and legal purposes
3. Who we share information with
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We share data only with service providers who help us operate, and only to the extent necessary:
- Vercel — hosts our website and processes form submissions
- Resend — delivers transactional emails (your consultation confirmation and our internal notifications)
- Google Workspace — hosts our business email (admin@otterwatt.com)
We may also disclose information when required by law, to protect our rights, or to investigate fraud or security issues.
4. How long we keep your information
We retain consultation requests and project records for as long as necessary to provide service and to meet tax, accounting, and legal obligations — typically up to seven years after our last interaction. You may request earlier deletion at any time (see Your Rights below); we’ll comply unless we’re required to retain the information.
5. Cookies
Our website uses minimal functional cookies necessary to render pages correctly. We do not currently use advertising or analytics cookies. If we add analytics in the future, we will update this policy.
6. Your rights
Regardless of where you live, you may contact us to:
- Ask what personal information we have about you
- Request correction of inaccurate information
- Request deletion of your information
- Opt out of any future marketing communications
If you live in California, the EU, or another jurisdiction with specific privacy laws, you may have additional rights (such as data portability or the right to object to processing). Contact us and we will work with you in good faith to honor those rights.
7. Security
Form submissions are transmitted over HTTPS. We rely on the security practices of our service providers (Vercel, Resend, Google Workspace) to protect data in transit and at rest. No system is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
8. Children
Our services are intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 13.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top of the page reflects the most recent revision. Material changes will be highlighted here for at least 30 days.
